Cross Options Group is looking for: Junior Compliance & Risk Analyst

About Cross Options

Cross Options is a proprietary trading firm (regulated by the AFM, the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets) that trades derivatives and other financial instruments for its own account. In every aspect of our business we operate at the forefront of technology, always using the latest AI and other tools. Thanks to our compact organisation, the lines between trading, compliance and management are short — decisions are made quickly and you are always close to the action.

The role

This vacancy relates to our trading activities. You will work at the intersection of two worlds that we deliberately bring together. On the one hand, you monitor the financial risks of our book: market and position risk, counterparty risk and liquidity risk. On the other, you keep a close eye on the licensing and operational side: the Wft licences (under the Dutch Financial Supervision Act) held by our trading entities, MiFID II obligations, market abuse surveillance under MAR, EMIR reporting and the ICT risk requirements under DORA. You report to the senior compliance manager and the senior risk manager, and you see first-hand how financial and non-financial risks interact — something you will rarely find combined in a single role at a large organisation.

What you bring
  • A completed university degree at Master's level, for example in law, business administration, finance or econometrics

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in compliance and/or risk management, preferably at an investment firm or another institution regulated under the Wft

  • A sharp mind and the drive to understand why a rule or risk limit exists — not just that it exists

  • Independence: in a small organisation, you will often work while carrying your own responsibility quickly

  • Affinity with numbers

What we offer
  • A broad, autonomous role in which you are responsible for both financial and non-financial risks, rather than just one slice of them

  • Direct lines to the senior compliance manager, the senior risk manager and the management board

  • Room to help shape the discipline further within a small, growing organisation

  • A competitive salary and benefits package

Interested?

Please send your CV and a short motivation to hr@crossoptions.nl. For questions about the role, contact Jorden Spijker (Risk Manager, jorden.spijker@crossoptions.nl) or Mark van der Werf (Compliance Manager, mark.vanderwerf@crossoptions.nl).

Cross Options Group is looking for: Junior Trader – Trading Class

About Cross Options

Cross Options is a proprietary trading firm in the centre of Amsterdam that trades options and futures for its own account — on equity indices, volatility and energy, on exchanges such as Eurex, Euronext, CME, Cboe and EEX. A growing part of our trading runs on algorithms we develop in-house. Thanks to our compact organisation, the lines between trading, research and management are short — decisions are made quickly and you are always close to the action.

The role

You join our trading class: a small group of new traders whom we train together, alongside our experienced traders. You first build a solid foundation in options, futures and our trading systems. You then develop your own trading strategies, and every idea follows the same path: research on our historical market data, a backtest, a period of simulated trading and live capital. As your strategies prove themselves, you get more capital and more responsibility. We judge you on results, not on hours or on how good an idea sounds. You work closely with our developers and quants and have direct lines to the management board.

What you bring
  • A Master's degree (completed or nearly completed) in mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, econometrics or another quantitative field; a finance background is not required

  • Proven interest in financial markets;

  • Programming skills in Python; experience with C++ is a plus

  • Proof that you can stay with one hard problem for a long time and see it through — for example a top result in a trading competitions, sports at a high level, competitive chess, poker experience, a project that others actually use, or a strategy you have traded with your own money;

  • The persistence to keep improving one strategy when the first results disappoint, instead of jumping to the next idea

  • Fluent English; Dutch is not required

What we offer
  • A structured trading class in which experienced traders teach you options, futures from the ground up

  • The chance to trade your own strategies with the firm's capital, from the first backtest to live trading

  • A very competitive percentage pay-out based on your trading results

  • A small, international team with direct lines to the management board, where a good idea reaches the market quickly

Interested?

Send your CV and a few lines about the hardest problem you kept working on until you cracked it to hr@crossoptions.nl. Still studying? We also offer Master's thesis and internship places in quantitative trading.
